Social Activism

In today's society, the two are very interconnected. Social media is part of our daily lives in one way or another. Even if you chose to disconnect, there is always a facebook or tweet being talked about on the news or through other outlets. I think that social media plays a large role in social movements and activism because it works as a connector among people. What other way can you send massive invites to people for free? I think that social media works in these movements as a starting point and a point for organization. For a group to continue on and be successful in its activism they need to connect in the real world. Sure, in the past people were able to organize without social media but that's the beauty of living in the future, we are able to organize a massive effort in a matter of minute.
